Our
dream started in 2002 when we saw and purchased a piece of land with three old
olive trees. Unfortunately, two of the trees had to go but we managed to save
one which now sits outside one of the bedrooms. This is our pride and joy and
represents an ambition that has now been achieved.
The house has been built to meet different situations and requirements and offers
family accommodation or solitude for couples. The villa is situated in Votsi
on the island of Alonissos. Votsi is a small Village just outside the main harbour
Town of Patitiri. For those wishing to holiday in the Greek Islands this is
an ideal holiday location, situated in the Sporades Islands.
The Villa has been built upside down according to UK normal standards, the bedrooms
being on the ground floor and the living area upstairs on the first floor. This
has been done for a couple of reasons. Firstly so that you can get the views
from upstairs whilst you are eating outside or sunbathing, and secondly the
bedrooms will be kept cool as they will be in the shade during the day.
The villa comprises two bedrooms, one bathroom, a fully fitted kitchen and outside
a large built-in barbecue. There are covered terraces on the ground floor with
open terraces on the first floor. The barbecue is situated on the first floor
terrace so is ideal for outdoor entertaining on the clear, warm nights. Attached
to the villa but completely self-contained is a studio with a small kitchen
area with a fridge, a toaster and a kettle. The studio has its own toilet and
shower room. It also has the use of its own open terrace ideal for sunbathing
and relaxation. The studio has a separate front door but by way of the design
the whole can be opened up into a three bedroom, two bathroom villa. There is
a plenty outdoor space with great sea and land views.
Dawn, the wife of Yianni who built the house, commented in the early stages
of the build, that the house “ had a lovely feel about it”. This
is what we were always hoping to achieve.
